At your own pace, we will go through your essay word-for-word, sentence-by-sentence, and page-by-page. This component to the tutoring session focuses on mechanics, essentially; to put it in an analogy, this is the grilling and shopping for a tremendous steak dinner you’re going to make yourself when you get that “A.” By giving you detailed feedback on what’s working for your essay and what is not (discussing cogency, coherency, and succinctness), we are focussing on the fundamentals that comprise your writing mindset. Recalling the steak analogy, we are choosing the best cuts of meat for your steak, when to baste with butter, and when to rest the steak.
For optimal results, more than one session is recommended.
Analysis involves more than just fixing general structuring/writing mechanics (i.e. co-editing) as it focuses on the seasoning/flavour profile of your aforementioned steak. The analysis component involves parsing through your course material and helping you build a paper that fits your assignment requirements in your voice. I will help you identify great primary sources, map out a writing structure for overall flow and recommend word choice/phrasing for your paper’s thesis .

This is the recipe card i.e. how you’ll remember what you did so you can replicate it later. However, in this context, the study component refers to helping you develop researching techniques, build quizzes for vocabulary/jargon etc., provide note-taking suggestions and even create exam preparation packets (by me, for you).
Selling yourself is hard:y you must ask, “how do I sound confident, not arrogant? How do I sound like I’m not grandstanding? How do I succinctly depict my knowledge in such a short space?” are difficult to answer well when your mind’s clouded with anxiety – hence why having someone review your statement can elevate your application’s impression. Reviewal will involve co-editing on structure, balancing expertise and personal motivations, and highlighting education credentials.
